Second "Construction Site Bulletin" from CLMA

The construction is progressing well, we are on schedule. It is no longer a drawing, but the first elevations of the project that we are observing today. The months of June and July were intense, and despite the heat, our masonry teams successfully completed the foundations, the first elevation, as well as the ground floor slab of building W.

The TEC (Travaux Etanchéité Corse) team has completed the waterproofing of the exterior walls of the basement, allowing backfilling and thus securing the structure.

Construction progress and next steps

The first step was to formwork and pour the foundations around which a compacted slab was installed (a plate load test was carried out beforehand).

Before pouring the slab, the installation of the anti-termite film on the strip footing is a meticulous operation that creates a hermetic shield around the building, preventing any termites from rising from the ground. In the photo, the HDPE film visible on the footing can be seen. (Mandatory in South Corsica by order No. 01-1223 of July 20, 2001).

Concrete curing is an essential phase where a curing compound is sprayed onto the surface of the freshly poured slab. This action creates a thin protective film that retains the water necessary for cement hydration. This allows for slow and complete hardening of the concrete, preventing cracks and ensuring its strength and durability.

Finally, the ground floor slab of the ground floor has been formworked and poured. The photo from July 19 shows half of the solid slab, which will be separated from the second half by an expansion joint.
